Air Fryer Turkey Breast: Time and Temperature
By AnoyUpdated Last reviewed How we calculate
Cook a 3 lb boneless turkey breast in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for about 45–55 minutes, turning it halfway, until the thickest part reaches 165°F (74°C). Rest it for 10 minutes before slicing. Roasted in a conventional oven it takes about 90 minutes at 325°F.

Why this differs from the standard conversion
The standard oven to air fryer rule would turn 325°F for 90 minutes into 300°F for 77 minutes. For roasts over an hour, size and shape matter more than any formula. A moderate 350°F browns the skin while the inside catches up; use a thermometer to decide when it is done.
Step by step
- Pat the turkey breast dry, rub with butter or oil and season under and over the skin.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook skin side down for half the time, then turn skin side up.
- Start checking at 40 minutes; it is done at 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part.
- Rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
How to tell it’s done
Poultry is safe at 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part. Check with an instant-read thermometer in the thickest part; see theFoodSafety.gov safe minimum temperature chart.
Tips
- Make sure the breast fits with at least an inch of space around it, or it will cook unevenly.
- Bone-in breasts take longer; allow roughly 15–20 minutes per pound and rely on the thermometer.
- If the skin darkens too fast, cover it loosely with foil weighed down so it cannot blow around.
Different box or recipe?
Package and recipe directions vary. Enter the oven temperature and time from yours and the calculator converts them with the standard rule. For this food, treat its result as an upper limit and check from the time given above.

Accuracy and limitations
These times are starting points built from typical oven directions, converted with the same rules as the calculator. They are not lab measurements, and your food and appliance will differ.
- Appliances vary. Wattage, basket size and how close the element sits to the food change cooking speed. That’s why every result includes a “check at” time.
- Load matters. A full or stacked basket cooks more slowly than a single layer.
- Temperature limits. Many basket air fryers stop at 400°F (200°C). Converted settings above that are flagged.
- Poor fits for any formula: wet batters, delicate cakes, low-and-slow recipes and roasts over an hour. Use a thermometer and expect to adjust.
- Food safety comes from internal temperature, not time. Check meat, poultry, seafood and leftovers against the USDA safe minimum temperatures.
- Packaging wins. If your box prints air fryer directions, follow them.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a turkey breast take in the air fryer?
A 3 lb boneless breast takes about 45–55 minutes at 350°F (175°C). Larger or bone-in breasts take longer, so check for 165°F (74°C).
What temperature should turkey breast reach?
165°F (74°C) in the thickest part, the USDA safe minimum for poultry.
Will a turkey breast fit in my air fryer?
Most 5-quart or larger baskets fit a 3 lb boneless breast. Leave space around it for airflow.
