Oven to Air Guide

How Long to Cook Pork Chops in the Air Fryer

By Updated Last reviewed How we calculate

Cook 1-inch boneless pork chops in the air fryer at 400°F (205°C) for 11–12 minutes, flipping halfway, until they reach 145°F (63°C), then rest for 3 minutes. In a conventional oven the same chops take about 15 minutes at 425°F.

How the oven directions convert

These air fryer directions come straight from the oven to air fryer converter using its “Most recipes” setting:

425°F − 25°F = 400°F · 15 min × 0.8 = 12 min · check at 11 min

Air fryers vary by model and basket load, so start checking at 11 minutes.

Step by step

  1. Pat the chops dry, rub with oil and season.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (205°C).
  3. Air fry for 11–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
  4. Check for 145°F (63°C) in the center, then rest for 3 minutes.

How to tell it’s done

Beef and pork steaks, chops and roasts are safe at 145°F (63°C) followed by a 3-minute rest. Check with an instant-read thermometer in the thickest part; see theFoodSafety.gov safe minimum temperature chart.

Tips

  • Thin ½-inch chops: start checking at 7 minutes.
  • Bone-in chops take 2–4 minutes longer; check next to the bone.
  • A slightly pink center at 145°F is safe and much juicier than well-done pork.

Accuracy and limitations

These times are starting points built from typical oven directions, converted with the same rules as the calculator. They are not lab measurements, and your food and appliance will differ.

  • Appliances vary. Wattage, basket size and how close the element sits to the food change cooking speed. That’s why every result includes a “check at” time.
  • Load matters. A full or stacked basket cooks more slowly than a single layer.
  • Temperature limits. Many basket air fryers stop at 400°F (200°C). Converted settings above that are flagged.
  • Poor fits for any formula: wet batters, delicate cakes, low-and-slow recipes and roasts over an hour. Use a thermometer and expect to adjust.
  • Food safety comes from internal temperature, not time. Check meat, poultry, seafood and leftovers against the USDA safe minimum temperatures.
  • Packaging wins. If your box prints air fryer directions, follow them.

Frequently asked questions

How long do you cook pork chops in the air fryer?

1-inch boneless chops take 11–12 minutes at 400°F (205°C). Thick bone-in chops take a few minutes longer.

What temperature should pork chops reach?

145°F (63°C), followed by a 3-minute rest. That is the USDA safe minimum for whole cuts of pork.

Should I bread pork chops for the air fryer?

You can. Breaded chops need a light spray of oil on the coating and about the same time. Flip carefully so the crumb stays on.

Times are starting points; air fryers vary. Always check doneness with a thermometer. Want everything on one page? See the air fryer cooking times chart.
