Oven to Air Guide

Can You Put Silicone in the Oven or Air Fryer?

By Updated Last reviewed How we calculate

Yes. Food-grade silicone bakeware, mats and air fryer liners are safe in the oven and the air fryer up to the temperature on the label, usually around 425–450°F (220–230°C). Light silicone liners should have food in them so they don’t lift in the airflow.

In the oven

Silicone molds and baking mats work well. Put them on a sheet pan for support.

In the air fryer

Silicone liners and egg-bite molds are made for air fryers. Leave space around the edges for air.

  • Support floppy molds on a sheet pan or in the basket.
  • Wash in warm soapy water; avoid sharp tools.

What to avoid

  • The broiler or direct contact with an element.
  • Cheap silicone with no temperature rating.

Frequently asked questions

Do silicone liners make air fryer food less crispy?

A little, because the base blocks air from underneath. Liners with holes or ridges help; flip food halfway.

How hot can silicone go in the oven?

Most food-grade silicone is rated to about 425–450°F (220–230°C). Some brands go higher; check yours.

Does silicone bakeware change baking time?

Slightly. Silicone conducts heat more slowly than metal, so cakes may need a few extra minutes and brown less on the bottom.
