Oven to Air Guide

Hot Pockets in the Air Fryer: Time and Temperature

By Updated Last reviewed How we calculate

Cook a frozen Hot Pocket in the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 12–14 minutes, without the crisping sleeve, flipping halfway. Let it stand for 2 minutes: the filling gets much hotter than the crust. The usual oven directions are about 350°F for 28 minutes.

Why this differs from the standard conversion

The standard oven to air fryer rule would turn 350°F for 28 minutes into 325°F for 22 minutes. A Hot Pocket is small and the air fryer heats it from every side, so it is done well before the general rule predicts. If your box prints air fryer directions, follow those.

Step by step

  1. Remove the Hot Pocket from the wrapper and the crisping sleeve.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Air fry from frozen for 12–14 minutes, flipping halfway.
  4. Let it stand for 2 minutes before eating.

How to tell it’s done

Leftovers and pre-cooked foods should be reheated to 165°F (74°C). Check with an instant-read thermometer in the thickest part; see theFoodSafety.gov safe minimum temperature chart.

Tips

  • Never put the cardboard crisping sleeve in the air fryer; the fan can lift it into the heating element.
  • Cooking two at once? Leave a gap between them and add 1–2 minutes.
  • If the crust browns before the middle is hot, drop to 350°F and add a couple of minutes.

Different box or recipe?

Package and recipe directions vary. Enter the oven temperature and time from yours and the calculator converts them with the standard rule. For this food, treat its result as an upper limit and check from the time given above.

Use the box’s oven directions as input and flip halfway. If the box lists air fryer directions, use those.

Accuracy and limitations

These times are starting points built from typical oven directions, converted with the same rules as the calculator. They are not lab measurements, and your food and appliance will differ.

  • Appliances vary. Wattage, basket size and how close the element sits to the food change cooking speed. That’s why every result includes a “check at” time.
  • Load matters. A full or stacked basket cooks more slowly than a single layer.
  • Temperature limits. Many basket air fryers stop at 400°F (200°C). Converted settings above that are flagged.
  • Poor fits for any formula: wet batters, delicate cakes, low-and-slow recipes and roasts over an hour. Use a thermometer and expect to adjust.
  • Food safety comes from internal temperature, not time. Check meat, poultry, seafood and leftovers against the USDA safe minimum temperatures.
  • Packaging wins. If your box prints air fryer directions, follow them.

Frequently asked questions

How long do you cook a Hot Pocket in the air fryer?

About 12–14 minutes at 375°F from frozen, flipping halfway, then a 2-minute rest. Check the box first: newer packs print their own air fryer directions.

Can you put the Hot Pocket sleeve in the air fryer?

No. The sleeve is designed for the microwave. In an air fryer the fan can blow it into the heating element, where it can scorch or burn.

Can you cook a Hot Pocket in the oven instead?

Yes. The usual oven directions are about 350°F for 28 minutes on a baking sheet, without the sleeve. It takes far longer than the air fryer.

Times are starting points; air fryers vary. Always check doneness with a thermometer. Want everything on one page? See the air fryer cooking times chart.
