Frozen Waffles in the Air Fryer
By AnoyUpdated Last reviewed How we calculate
Cook frozen waffles in the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 4–5 minutes, flipping once, until crisp at the edges. In a conventional oven they take about 6 minutes at 400°F. Thick Belgian-style waffles need a minute or two more.

How the oven directions convert
These air fryer directions come straight from the oven to air fryer converter using its “Frozen food” setting:
400°F − 25°F = 375°F · 6 min × 0.8 = 5 min · check at 4 min
Air fryers vary by model and basket load, so start checking at 4 minutes.
Step by step
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Lay the frozen waffles flat in a single layer; do not stack them.
- Air fry for 4–5 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Serve right away; they soften as they cool.
How to tell it’s done
Leftovers and pre-cooked foods should be reheated to 165°F (74°C). Check with an instant-read thermometer in the thickest part; see theFoodSafety.gov safe minimum temperature chart.
Tips
- Light waffles can lift in the airflow. If yours move around, set a small rack on top.
- Thick Belgian waffles: add 1–2 minutes.
- Making French toast sticks or pancakes from frozen? The same setting is a good starting point.
Different box or recipe?
Package and recipe directions vary. Enter the oven temperature and time from yours and the calculator converts them with the standard rule.

Accuracy and limitations
These times are starting points built from typical oven directions, converted with the same rules as the calculator. They are not lab measurements, and your food and appliance will differ.
- Appliances vary. Wattage, basket size and how close the element sits to the food change cooking speed. That’s why every result includes a “check at” time.
- Load matters. A full or stacked basket cooks more slowly than a single layer.
- Temperature limits. Many basket air fryers stop at 400°F (200°C). Converted settings above that are flagged.
- Poor fits for any formula: wet batters, delicate cakes, low-and-slow recipes and roasts over an hour. Use a thermometer and expect to adjust.
- Food safety comes from internal temperature, not time. Check meat, poultry, seafood and leftovers against the USDA safe minimum temperatures.
- Packaging wins. If your box prints air fryer directions, follow them.

Frequently asked questions
How long do you air fry frozen waffles?
4–5 minutes at 375°F (190°C), flipping halfway. Thicker Belgian waffles take 6–7 minutes.
Are air fryer waffles better than toaster waffles?
They come out crisper at the edges and evenly hot, and you can do several at once. A toaster is a little faster for one or two.
Can you stack frozen waffles in the air fryer?
No. Stacked waffles steam where they touch and stay soft. Cook them in a single layer and work in batches.
Times are starting points; air fryers vary. Always check doneness with a thermometer. Want everything on one page? See the air fryer cooking times chart.
