Oven to Air Guide

Frozen Egg Rolls in the Air Fryer

By Updated Last reviewed How we calculate

Cook frozen egg rolls in the air fryer at 400°F (205°C) for 11–12 minutes, straight from frozen, flipping halfway. In a conventional oven they usually need about 15 minutes at 425°F. A light mist of oil gives a crisper, blistered wrapper.

How the oven directions convert

These air fryer directions come straight from the oven to air fryer converter using its “Frozen food” setting:

425°F − 25°F = 400°F · 15 min × 0.8 = 12 min · check at 11 min

Air fryers vary by model and basket load, so start checking at 11 minutes.

Step by step

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (205°C).
  2. Lightly spray the frozen egg rolls with oil.
  3. Arrange in a single layer with space between them.
  4. Air fry for 11–12 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and hot in the center.

How to tell it’s done

Leftovers and pre-cooked foods should be reheated to 165°F (74°C). Check with an instant-read thermometer in the thickest part; see theFoodSafety.gov safe minimum temperature chart.

Tips

  • Do not thaw them first; thawed wrappers turn soggy and can split.
  • Mini egg rolls and spring rolls are thinner: start checking at 7–8 minutes.
  • Let them stand for a minute: the filling stays hot long after the wrapper cools.

Different box or recipe?

Package and recipe directions vary. Enter the oven temperature and time from yours and the calculator converts them with the standard rule.

Accuracy and limitations

These times are starting points built from typical oven directions, converted with the same rules as the calculator. They are not lab measurements, and your food and appliance will differ.

  • Appliances vary. Wattage, basket size and how close the element sits to the food change cooking speed. That’s why every result includes a “check at” time.
  • Load matters. A full or stacked basket cooks more slowly than a single layer.
  • Temperature limits. Many basket air fryers stop at 400°F (200°C). Converted settings above that are flagged.
  • Poor fits for any formula: wet batters, delicate cakes, low-and-slow recipes and roasts over an hour. Use a thermometer and expect to adjust.
  • Food safety comes from internal temperature, not time. Check meat, poultry, seafood and leftovers against the USDA safe minimum temperatures.
  • Packaging wins. If your box prints air fryer directions, follow them.

Frequently asked questions

How long do frozen egg rolls take in the air fryer?

11–12 minutes at 400°F (205°C), flipping halfway. Mini egg rolls are usually done in 7–9 minutes.

Do you need to spray egg rolls with oil in the air fryer?

It is optional but worth it. A light spray gives a crisp, bubbly wrapper; without it the wrapper can stay dry and pale in spots.

Can you cook egg rolls from frozen?

Yes, and you should. Cooking from frozen keeps the wrapper crisp and stops it splitting as the filling heats.

Times are starting points; air fryers vary. Always check doneness with a thermometer. Want everything on one page? See the air fryer cooking times chart.
