The formula
- Air fryer temperature = oven temperature − 25°F (or − 15°C), rounded to the nearest 5°.
- Air fryer time = oven time × 0.8 (20% less). By food type: Most recipes × 0.8, Thin & crispy × 0.75, Vegetables × 0.75, Thick meat & roasts × 0.85, Cakes & bakes × 0.85, Frozen food × 0.8.
- Check at = oven time × 0.75, rounded down.
Worked example: 400°F − 25°F = 375°F · 25 min × 0.8 = 20 min · check at 18 min
Results above 400°F (200°C) get a warning, because many basket air fryers stop there. Method version 1.1. Why these numbers: methodology.
325°F oven to air fryer time chart
Every row below is 325°F in the oven and 300°F in the air fryer. The time cut depends on the food: thin, crispy foods finish sooner, while thick meat and cakes need closer to their full time.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 min | 8 min | 8 min | 9 min | 7 min |

325°F in Celsius, fan and gas mark
| Conventional oven | 325°F = 162.8°C (recipes use 170°C) |
|---|---|
| Fan / convection oven | 300°F / 150°C fan |
| Gas oven | Gas mark 3 |
| Air fryer | 300°F / 150°C |
The fan figure uses the same rule as the air fryer, because both cook with moving air. If a recipe already gives a fan or convection temperature, use it in the air fryer unchanged and only shorten the time by about 10%: see convection oven to air fryer.
Why 325°F becomes 300°F
An air fryer is a small convection oven with a powerful fan. Moving air carries heat into food faster than the still air of a regular oven, so the same browning happens at a lower setting:325°F − 25°F = 300°F. The result is rounded to the nearest 5 degrees to match air fryer dials.

Accuracy and limitations
The arithmetic is exact: the same function produces the calculator result, every chart on this site and the printable chart. The cooking result is an estimate, because the formula cannot see your appliance or your food.
- Appliances vary. Wattage, basket size and how close the element sits to the food change cooking speed. That’s why every result includes a “check at” time.
- Load matters. A full or stacked basket cooks more slowly than a single layer.
- Temperature limits. Many basket air fryers stop at 400°F (200°C). Converted settings above that are flagged.
- Poor fits for any formula: wet batters, delicate cakes, low-and-slow recipes and roasts over an hour. Use a thermometer and expect to adjust.
- Food safety comes from internal temperature, not time. Check meat, poultry, seafood and leftovers against the USDA safe minimum temperatures.

Frequently asked questions
What is 325°F in an air fryer?
A recipe written for a 325°F conventional oven converts to 300°F (about 150°C) in the air fryer, with the cooking time multiplied by 0.8. If the recipe already gives an air fryer temperature, keep it as it is.
How long is 20 minutes at 325°F in an air fryer?
About 16 minutes at 300°F. Start checking at 15 minutes; thin, crispy foods may be done sooner and thick cuts may need the full time.
What is 325°F in Celsius?
325°F is exactly 162.8°C. Recipes usually treat it as 170°C. On a gas oven it is about gas mark 3.
What is 325°F in a fan oven?
Lower it by 25°F to about 300°F (150°C) fan. A fan or convection oven circulates air like an air fryer, so a fan temperature goes straight into the air fryer unchanged.
What is a 325°F air fryer recipe in the oven?
Going the other way, a 325°F air fryer recipe needs about 350°F in a conventional oven, with the time multiplied by 1.25.
Conversions are starting points; always check food with a thermometer.
